Formerly an old cast iron steel building, 15 Union Square West in Manhattan was redesigned in 2008 with an additional six floors of luxury condominiums. Walsh was responsible for wrapping the 12-story building in a translucent layered glass skin with glass sourced from Germany’s Saint Gobain Glass. The curtain wall is offset from the outside surface of the cast iron façade to create a unitized curtain wall effect. Walsh also installed the façade’s electrically operable vents by Schuco and large tilt-and-turn Thermoroll windows, as well as the terraces’ glass rails, which were provided by CR Laurence and Oldcastle.
